Traditional Indian laminate manufacturers use water-based (PVA) glue to bond decorative laminate to a substrate. It's cheap, easy, and widely available. It's also why your kitchen shutters look tired within 3-5 years. Water-based glue is fundamentally incompatible with Indian conditions. During monsoons humidity crosses 90%. In kitchens and bathrooms it stays above 60% year-round. Water-based glue absorbs this moisture, softens, and loses grip. Edges lift. Bubbles appear near hinges. Corners peel. PUR (Polyurethane Reactive) adhesive is chemically opposite. It's a moisture-curing polymer — it uses ambient humidity to complete polymerization. The wetter it gets, the stronger it becomes.
